Black Stars coach Otto Addo has made some last-minute adjustments to his squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers doubleheader against Sudan.
On Friday, October 4, the 45-year-old coach initially announced a 35-man squad for the crucial Matchday three and four fixtures against the Falcons.
However, injuries have led to changes in the lineup.
Midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru, who was expected to join the team’s camp, is likely to miss the games after suffering a knock during R.S.C. Anderlecht’s 3-0 win over Standard de Liège.
The Belgian club has informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of his condition. To cover his absence, Cercle Brugge midfielder Francis Abu has been called up as a replacement.
Similarly, Ibrahim Osman, currently on loan at Feyenoord from Brighton & Hove Albion, will also be unavailable due to injury. AZ Alkmaar winger Ibrahim Sadiq has been invited to take his place.
Kingsley Schindler of Turkish club Samsunspor has been ruled out after sustaining an injury in his team’s 3-1 victory over Adana Demirspor.
In response, FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey Adjei, who earned his first call-up earlier for matches against Angola and Niger, has been drafted in to strengthen the defense.
The Black Stars began their preparations on Monday, with the first leg set for Thursday, October 10, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The second leg will take place on October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
After a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw with Niger, Otto Addo’s team is focused on securing all six points in these vital fixtures.
