Ex-GFA spokesperson criticizes Management Committee system

-

Former Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Tamimu Issah has criticized the use of management committees in Ghana football, describing the system as outdated.

Ghana’s national teams, including the Black Stars, currently operate under a management committee framework.

However, Issah argues that this approach is no longer relevant in modern football.

“One of the problems I have is the management committee system. Just look around, where do you have this kind of system? It is archaic,” he told Asempa FM’s Sports Nite. “We should do away with that management committee system.

While Issah acknowledges the importance of management, he believes the current structure is ineffective and outdated.

“I’m not saying there shouldn’t be management but per the kind of system we have, the coach is the manager of the team. You can have a structure but the kind of structure we have doesn’t exist,” he added.

The criticism comes in the wake of the GFA Executive Council’s decision to dissolve the Black Stars’ management committee. This move followed the team’s disappointing performance in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite the dissolution, the GFA is expected to establish a new management committee to oversee the team’s preparations for future matches.
