Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has called on the government to provide much-needed support to Ghanaian football clubs.

Clubs in Ghana’s top-tier league have faced significant challenges in securing sponsorships, and the StarTimes TV broadcast deal concluded after the 2023/24 football season.

With low player salaries in the local leagues, many top players are leaving for overseas clubs at the end of each season.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Daara emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to ensure the sustainability of football in the country, warning that without such support, the future of Ghanaian football is in jeopardy.

In related news, the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is slated to begin on September 6.
