Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has inspected approximately 2,500 uncleared containers at Tema Harbour, procured by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under the previous administration.
These containers, which hold essential materials, have accrued staggering demurrage charges of GHS 1.5 billion due to prolonged delays.
Mr. Jinapor expressed deep concern over the financial losses, describing the situation as unacceptable.
He pledged swift action to clear the containers, mitigate further losses, and accelerate energy initiatives critical to national development.
The Minister also assured the public of measures aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving inter-agency coordination, and preventing such costly oversights in the future.
