Emeafa Hardcastle has apologised to me but… – Annoh-Dompreh [Listen]

Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has revealed that the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, apologized following their altercation.

However, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP asserted that Madam Hardcastle was not genuinely remorseful for her actions.

“We went into a conclave meeting after the incident, and many of the women, including Emeafa, came to apologize. Interestingly, after the apology, I was informed that she made a worse comment,” he said.

In an interview with Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh explained that it was Hardcastle’s actions after the apology that led him to refer the matter to Parliament.

He emphasized that he had never met or interacted with Madam Hardcastle before, making her actions difficult to understand.

“It would be a wild imagination for anyone to say we have issues in the past. It was my first time seeing her. I have never met or engaged her in any way. Also, if I had provoked her in any way, I wouldn’t have referred the matter to Parliament,” he added.

The altercation occurred during the Appointments Committee proceedings on January 28, 2025, when Defence Minister-designate Dr. Edward Omane Boamah appeared before the committee.

The session became tense after allegations of bribery by political activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor were raised.

While the exact cause of the confrontation between Hardcastle and Mr. Annoh-Dompreh remains unclear, it reportedly stemmed from a remark made by Hardcastle, who referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus as a ‘Micro-Minority.’ This comment reportedly triggered a back-and-forth exchange between the two.

Madam Hardcastle’s actions have been widely condemned, with calls from Tamale South MP and Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, for a public apology.
