Election 2024 is a simple process with no need for violence – Jefferson Sackey

-

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central, Jefferson Sackey, has appealed for calm and peaceful behaviour during the special voting exercise and the upcoming December 7 general elections.

Recalling the violent incidents in the constituency during the 2020 elections, which tragically resulted in the loss of one life, he stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could lead to unrest.

Providing an update on the ongoing special voting, he revealed that 140 out of 856 registered voters had cast their ballots as of the latest report.

In an interview with Citi News, Sackey stated, “We must all work together to ensure a peaceful election. Violence tarnishes the democratic process and should have no place in our elections.”

He encouraged voters to actively and responsibly participate in the process, emphasizing the need to preserve a violence-free electoral atmosphere.

“It is just a decision to take by the youth. There is no need to fight or be aggressive when somebody is voting. It is an expression of an opinion that this is the person we want to lead Ghana at this point. This is the person to lead Ablekuma Central Constituency.

“You go to the polls, cast your vote and go home. You come later to the polling station to see the counting process and at the end of the day, the EC will make a declaration on who the next president is and who the various members of Parliament are going to be in the respective constituencies.

“So, my advice to the youth is that this is a very simple process. There is no need to fight, we should all work as one people ensuring that 2024 is successful and smooth,” he stated.
