Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has strongly criticised Global InfoAnalytics for its recent election projections, accusing the research firm of bias in favour of John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer.
Mr Aboagye’s comments follow the firm’s forecast that Mahama would secure 52.2% of the vote in Ghana’s upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections, surpassing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is projected to receive 41.4%.
In an appearance on Channel One on November 29, 2024, Aboagye dismissed the findings as unrealistic and criticised the credibility of Global InfoAnalytics.
He argued that the projections were skewed and did not reflect the true sentiment of the electorate.
The Bawumia campaign has maintained that the polls are not an accurate representation of the political landscape, asserting that Bawumia remains the top contender for the presidency.
“Is it not strange that in all the polls we have had for the 2024 elections, it is only Mussa Dankwah’s polls that predict John Mahama and, ridiculously so, give some outrageous percentages to the former president? If I look at the figures Mussa Dankwah has put out, then basically, what he is saying is that the former president is winning this election by about 2 million votes. Where he is going to get those 2 million votes from?
“But we are not surprised, this is somebody who brought a poll and said that the NDC is going to win Oforikrom by 99%. The man has no credibility, his polls are biased. They are skewed and I keep saying that his closed description is a lotto doctor, and that is what is,” he stated.
