Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi constituency, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has said his party is fully on the ground, working hard to secure victory in the December polls.
In his view, this election will be a done deal, expressing confidence in the upcoming results.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen during a community engagement in Sekondi, Mr. Mercer reflected on the public’s perception of his work.
“We say it to the glory of the Lord that many people are satisfied with my work, and just like Oliver Twist, I have to ask for more,” he stated.
He responded to critics who claim he has not contributed to development in the area, despite his extensive work.
“They always say I haven’t done anything, even after all the developmental projects we’ve completed. The NDC continues to say that I have not done anything, despite the roads, the community centre, and the Astro turfs that this government has built,” he said, referring to key infrastructure developments in the constituency.
Mr. Mercer addressed the criticism from the opposition, particularly the NDC, who continued to downplay his contributions.
“Even after all the work I’ve done, these people, even if I cut my head for them, will still say I haven’t done anything. But I believe the people of Sekondi will look at my work and vote for me on December 7. They won’t listen to the naysayers from the NDC,” he said.
Nevertheless, Mr. Mercer remains confident that voters will look at his track record and vote for him in the upcoming election.
“Because Sekondi voted for me and the president appointed me as a minister, my work has increased, and my engagements have become more challenging. However, some people are just making noise,” he said.
