The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has cemented his bid to get elected as President on December 7 by filing his nomination forms.
This will be the first time he will carry out this exercise, having served as running mate in 2008, and 2012 and subsequently as Vice President in 2016 and 2020.
His forms were received by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa.
Dr Bawumia was the first to file his forms at 9:00 am in the company of his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh and their spouses, Samira Bawumia and Alma Adade-Prempeh respectively.
The NPP Chairman, Stephen Ayesu, General Secretary; Justin Frimpong Kodua, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and other leading members of the NPP, were also at the EC to provide support and solidarity.
Dr Bawumia in a short address expressed confidence about his victory and also affirmed his believe in the EC to conduct a credible election.
For the part of the EC, Madam Mensa stated two-team committees will be set up to vet the forms.
Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama is also expected to file his forms at 2pm.
