Effutu Municipal Assembly justifies dismantling NDC billboards in Winneba

-

The Effutu Municipal Assembly has taken down unauthorized billboards belonging to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the party failed to obtain the necessary permits for their installation.

The operation, which took place on September 12, 2024, targeted billboards at Klimivic Junction, the University of Education’s Winneba North Campus entrance, and Sankor in the Winneba municipality.

According to the Assembly, regulations mandate that all individuals and organizations must acquire permits before installing billboards in the area.

Since 2021, the Assembly has conducted sensitization programs to educate the public about this requirement and has periodically removed billboards that fail to comply with the law.

In August 2024, the Assembly noticed the unauthorized NDC billboards and subsequently issued a formal letter to the Effutu Constituency Chairman, instructing the party to remove them until the appropriate permits were obtained.

Despite continued engagement and assurances from the NDC’s leadership in the Central Region, it said the party did not follow through on securing the necessary permissions.

As a result, the Assembly undertook the removal operation in line with efforts to ensure compliance with local regulations.

The Effutu Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that all advertising materials within its jurisdiction are legally erected.

They encouraged all individuals and organizations to seek proper permits before installing billboards to avoid similar actions in the future.
