An independent parliamentary candidate for the Effutu Constituency, Louisa Buabeng, has been remanded into police custody by the Winneba High Court on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The ruling, delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary, followed Ms. Buabeng’s arrest on November 20 at the court premises after a hearing related to an election petition she filed.
She was later re-arrested on the evening of Wednesday, November 27, and brought before the court the following morning.
According to Citi News, the re-arrest stemmed from the discovery of multiple voter identification cards at the residence of one of her aides.
The aide has been charged with unlawful possession of documents, while Ms. Buabeng faces a charge of conspiracy to commit a crime.
The court has ordered her remand for four days, with her next appearance scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2024.
