A Political Marketing Analyst, Dr Bernard Tutu Boahen, has acknowledged significant improvements in the work of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC).
He noted that since 1992, the EC has undergone a steady evolution, enhancing its operations ahead of the upcoming elections.
“We have seen continuous advancements in the way the Electoral Commission functions,” Dr. Boahen said.
He highlighted improvements in voting procedures, registration processes, and voter identification systems.
Dr. Tutu Boahen attributed these changes to the integration of technology, which he believes has streamlined operations and made it easier for citizens to engage in the democratic process.
A key development, according to Dr. Boahen, was the recent live broadcast of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting for the first time.
“This is a groundbreaking move that reflects the EC’s dedication to transparency and accountability. By allowing the media to participate, the Commission is fostering open dialogue and reassuring the public that their concerns are being addressed” he explained.
In an interview with Adom News, Dr. Boahen emphasized the importance of transparency in easing voter concerns and reducing distrust.
“Engaging with political parties and responding to their concerns has been crucial in building trust among the electorate. This is a significant moment for our democracy, and each step towards openness strengthens the electoral process” he noted.
Dr. Boahen also urged political parties, voters, the EC, and security agencies to collaborate in ensuring a peaceful election.
“We must all work together to maintain the integrity of the elections,” he said.
