ECG Concession: Restrictive tendering is ‘a no no’ – NDC warns

-

The opposition party National Democratic Party (NDC), has kicked against government’s intention to replace the Power Distribution Service (PDS), by the use of a restrictive tendering process.

The NDC believes the restrictive tendering process is not an option that Ghanaians and the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) should even consider.

A letter by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta had said the government was going to employ a restrictive tendering process in selecting the next concessionaire after the PDS deal had gone into jeopardy, forcing the government to suspend the process.

But the NDC says, “this is not an option that Ghanaians and the MCC should even consider. It is a no no, Ghanaians can never and should never trust the very same Ken Ofori Atta, Keli Gadzekpo, Esson Benjamin, Dr Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo who caused this PDS mess to do any thorough job,” the General Secretary for the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said at a press conference on Monday.

He added that there was too much corruption in the DNA of President Akuffo-Addo, Dr Bawumia and Ken Ofori Atta.

The NDC also accused the Akufo-Addo government of using the proposal to use a restrictive tendering process to select a replacement for PDS as another well-calculated scheme to cook the ECG Concession for themselves.
