EC yet to receive results at National Collation Centre

-

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that, as of 8:00 am on Sunday, December 8, 2024, no election results have been received at the National Collation Centre.

This was disclosed by the Director of Electoral Services, Mr. Benjamin Bano-Bioh, during a press briefing.

“For the information of the general public, as we speak, no results have been received at the National Collation Centre. And I repeat, no results have been received at the National Collation Centre,” Mr. Bano-Bioh emphasized.

According to the EC, results are currently trickling into the Regional Collation Centres, which has delayed their transmission to the national level.

The Commission attributed the delay to disruptions caused by supporters of the two major political parties, who were urged by their leaders to converge at constituency collation centres.

Overnight attacks on several collation centres resulted in damage to election materials, including ballot boxes, ballot papers, and Biometric Verification Devices, and posed threats to EC staff.

The EC reminded the public that only two agents per candidate are permitted at constituency and regional collation centres.

It called on political parties and their leaders to allow EC officials to carry out their duties without interference to facilitate the timely declaration of results.

The Commission assured Ghanaians that results will be published as they are received, region by region, to maintain transparency and public confidence.
