EC to begin mop-up registration from 1-3 August nationwide

The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to embark on a nationwide mop-up registration from 1st to 3rd August to allow those who couldn’t register during the last exercise to have their names in the register.

At a press briefing on Monday July 29, Deputy Chairperson of the Commission in charge of Operations Samuel Tettey said that those who turned 18 after the last exercise can take take advantage of the mop up exercise to register.

He said that the identification for the registration remains the Ghana card and passport and those without these can register by the guarantor system.

A guarantor can guarantee for only two people and that those who guaranteed for applicants in the last exercise cannot do so this time.

On the issue of security, Mr. Tettey said that the Police has already been notified and that security at the registration centers is rest assured.

He encouraged all Ghanaians to participate in the exercise to make it a success.
