The National Democratic Congress (NDC), is calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) to release the provisional voter register for the December 7 elections to all political parties before the exhibition exercise.
According to the party, an early provision will afford the parties to scrutinise the register before the exhibition.
In a Facebook post, the NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr Omane Boamah described the electoral body as incompetent.
He alleged that, the EC’s delay is a deliberate attempt to provide substandard register for the election.
“We strongly believe this lack of promptness exhibited by the EC is due to both incompetence and a deliberate attempt to dump a sub-standard Provisional Voter Register on political parties in a short period, to make it difficult for interested parties to critically peruse the register before the Exhibition starts, next week,” Dr. Omane Boamah posted.
He emphasised that the EC’s actions, particularly those of its IT Department, could lead to dire consequences if not addressed promptly.
