The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, has dismissed videos and images circulating on social media about alleged ballot papers as false, clarifying that these claims have been addressed by EC officials.
He provided an example from Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region, where rumors about 79 disputed ballots were raised.
After consulting the district officer, it was confirmed that the officer had also heard similar rumors.
Further investigation revealed that the matter had been escalated to the regional commander.
In a statement to the press, Dr. Quaicoe urged media personnel to refrain from reporting on issues unless they have verified facts.
He stressed that information seen on social media should not be considered accurate without proper verification and evidence.
Dr. Quaicoe also called on the media to carry out thorough research before publishing news, to uphold the integrity of their reports.
