EC declares Adjei-Mensah Korsah as MP-elect for Techiman South after final collation

-

The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Member of Parliament-elect for Techiman South following a final collation of results.

The Returning Officer for Techiman South, Amartey Adjaottor, announced that Adjei-Mensah Korsah secured 46,663 votes to retain his seat, defeating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Christopher Beyere Baasongti, who garnered 43,429 votes.

This declaration comes after prolonged disputes, with both the NPP and NDC initially claiming victory in the constituency.

The controversy prompted the High Court to order a re-collation of results from the constituency to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.

The court ruled that in Techiman South 147 polling stations had yet to be collated.

Adjei-Mensah Korsah’s victory solidifies the NPP’s representation in Techiman South, concluding weeks of tension and legal proceedings surrounding the election
