Dzita residents hit by another mysterious death

-

Residents of Dzita in the Volta Region have been thrown into a state of fear, shock and disbelieve following another mysterious death of one of the community members.

The body of a man believed to be mentally unstable was found buried under a heap of sand along the beach.

The discovery is the latest of what appears to be a routine in the community.

Several community members have been killed under very bizarre circumstances with no trace of motive or who the perpetrators are.

The residents have for some time now been living in perpetual fear. Not even a massive demonstration embarked on by the residents to alert the police about their state of insecurity has yielded any fruit.

The recent killing has only reignited the fear of the residents.

They told Joy News the situation is becoming too alarming especially for non-indigenes who are there to work.

“The situation is becoming too alarming and worrying that of our loved ones are in danger. We live in fear daily,” a resident lamented.

According them, between 2013 and 2017 over 10 residents including three children have been killed in the area with parts of their bodies missing.

The residents claim they found the mutilated bodies of the victims but never seem to know who the killers were.

A relative to one of the victims recounted how the body of her relative was found and has appealed to the police to bring those involved in the heinous crime to book.

“The police must do something about the situation. Innocent lives are being lost almost every six months. This is making us live in fear” she lamented.

Dzita, Agbledomi and Anyanui, had, prior to the strings of murders, been very peaceful fishing and farming communities.

The residents stayed out late at night before retiring to their homes without entertaining any fear of being attacked.

According to an elderly person who spoke with Joy News, the town was once peaceful until the mysterious deaths changed everything.

“We used to enjoy our night’s outside even deep in the night without fear but we cannot afford to even have fresh air even at 8:00 pm for the fear of being attacked by these serial killers” he lamented

The residents are also appealing to the IGP to do something about their situation before more lives are lost.
