Thirty year old Mohammed Lufai is in the grips of the Suame Police Command for stealing dustbins meant for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) “Operation Keep The City Clean And Green”.
The KMA launched a new strategy to drive environmental cleanliness and restore Kumasi to its pride as the Garden City of West Africa.
The exercise is dubbed ‘Operation Keep the City Green and Clean’ and the education of the public against indiscriminate disposal of waste.

The Assembly in order to win the fight against sanitation has placed dustins in some vantage points in Kumasi and the Central Business District areas.
Eva Amoateng who is a KMA night sweeper spotted Mohammed Lufai carrying the dustbin.
Convener for KMA Trade and Industry Committee, Hon Alexander Kesse said Mohammed Lufai was arrested when Eva Amoateng confronted him.

According to him, Mohammed said he found the dustbin on a dumping site but their checks revealed that he stole it.
“The Woman saw Mohammed carrying the dustbin. She confronted him and the guy told him he found the Operation Keep the City Clean and Green dustbin on dumping a site. But according to our checks he removed the one in front of racecourse and he was going to sell it. He was arrested by those around and I followed them to the Suame police station”.
However Hon Alexander Kesse has warned the people of Kumasi to stop sabotaging the exercise adding, the assembly will deal with perpetrators who want the exercise to become unsuccessful.

He, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians especially people in Kumasi to change their attitude towards sanitation.
