A driver and his mate are receiving treatment at the Tafo Government Hospital in the Abuakwa North Municipality following an accident at Bunso in the Eastern region.
The accident is said to have occurred on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The driver was in charge of a DAF XF long vehicle with registration number GW-5959-23, which was loaded with drinks and food items from Togo and heading to Kumasi.
Accra-based Citi News reported that, he was dosing off when he got to Bunso just after bypassing the CSIR curve close to Bunso Junction.
Unfortunately, the truck veered off the road, forcing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
The truck on its side, bringing down a high-tension pole belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and power supply was cut of in the area as a result.
Emergency response personnel including the Ambulance Service, Ghana Fire Service and Ghana Police Service moved in to rescue the occupnats who were trapped.
Engineers of the Begoro ECG later visited the scene to assess the extent of damage.
