The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has announced substantial progress under the government’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), with approximately 80 kilometers of roads upgraded across five district assemblies.
Launched in July, the DRIP initiative equips Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with resources and tools to rehabilitate and maintain local road networks.
The programme aims to enhance community infrastructure, improve accessibility, and support local residents and businesses.
During a recent site visit, DRIP Regional Coordinator Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey shared updates on the programme’s impact, noting significant transformations in areas such as Awoshie, Sowutuom, Amasaman, Old Barrier, and Weija.
“Weija-Gbawe in Ga South delivered 26 kilometers. In Ga West, we’ve completed nearly 18 kilometers, and Ga North is on track with 12 kilometers,” he said.
He praised the nearly 80 kilometers of road improvements achieved in just three to four months, describing the progress as “very impressive.”
Mr. Nartey emphasized that the success of DRIP underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing road infrastructure and improving living standards for Greater Accra residents.
