Dr. Orleans Lindsay inaugurated as first chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University

Executive Chairman of JL Holdings Ghana, Dr. Orleans Lindsay, has been officially inaugurated as the first Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU).

The landmark ceremony was attended by government officials, dignitaries, and the academic community.

In his address, Dr. Lindsay expressed heartfelt appreciation for the warm welcome and solid support from both the CCTU community and the people of Cape Coast.

He acknowledged the university’s pressing infrastructure needs, such as student hostels, lecture halls, and recreational facilities, and conveyed his optimism that these challenges would be resolved with the support of government, alumni, and stakeholders.

He committed to transforming CCTU to better serve its students and the community.

Dr. Lindsay highlighted CCTU’s role under the Technical Universities Act of 2016, which emphasizes advancing technical and vocational education, fostering innovation, and creating industry partnerships.

He pledged that his leadership would prioritize these goals, which align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in quality education, economic growth, and innovation.

“As the first Chancellor of this noble institution, I pledge to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and make our programs accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians,” he affirmed.

Dr. Lindsay outlined strategic plans to recruit top-tier faculty, develop market-driven academic programs, and expand global partnerships.

Leveraging his extensive business experience, he promised to connect CCTU with international institutions, aiming to position it as a leader in technological innovation and sustainable energy solutions.

Additionally, Dr. Lindsay emphasized his commitment to entrepreneurship, aspiring to equip students with the skills needed for self-reliance.

He expressed confidence that CCTU’s 40th Anniversary Students’ Hostel would soon be completed and announced his intent to work with government and private sector stakeholders to address other infrastructure needs.

He encouraged students to reach their full potential, contributing to Ghana’s development, and appealed to alumni and stakeholders to support CCTU’s vision to become one of Africa’s premier technical universities.

Dr. Lindsay described his investiture as a pivotal moment for CCTU, predicting a “significant paradigm shift” that would propel it among the world’s leading technical institutions.

Renowned as one of Ghana’s most influential business leaders, Dr. Orleans Lindsay has built a business empire spanning construction, beverages, security, and agriculture.
