President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has appointed Dr. Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison as Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Until his appointment, Dr Addison was the Lead Regional Economist of the African Development Bank at its Southern African resource Centre.
His appointment comes after the previous Governor Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku, tendered in his resignation letter.
A statement from the Presidency signed by Mr. Eugene Arhin, read: “On Monday, 27th March, 2017, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, received a letter from Dr. Abdul- Nashiru Issahaku, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, indicating his resignation from office, effective Saturday, 1st April, 2017. The President, with considerable regret, has accepted his resignation.”
The statement continued that “In order not to have a vacuum at the top of such an important state institution, the President, in accordance with Article 183 (4) (a) of the constitution, has appointed Dr. Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison as Governor of the Bank of Ghana, subject to consultation with the Council of State.”
