A major traffic gridlock has taken over the Doli Bridge following an accident involving a truck loaded with tin tomatoes.
The truck, with registration number AS 7638-15, overturned while crossing the highway, leaving more than 100 vehicles stranded, especially those transporting goods towards Wa and those heading south.
Eyewitness Karim Fedege, a driver who was following the truck from Bole to Wa, recounted that the driver failed to shift gears properly upon reaching the bridge.
In an attempt to apply the brakes, the truck rolled backward and overturned, with its cabin facing upwards and its cargo blocking the highway.
Mr. Fedege has called on the police, road safety authorities, and regional ministers to take immediate action to improve the Doli Bridge and the Techiman-Wa highway to prevent further accidents.
Meanwhile, some drivers who have been stuck for over seven hours have expressed frustration over the congestion and poor road conditions.
The truck driver is currently receiving treatment at the Bole District Hospital.
