Former Ghanaian middleweight boxing champion, Joshua Clottey, has lauded Isaac Dogbey for successfully defending his WBO World super bantamweight title.
Joshua has also extolled the boxer’s prowess, saying he can surpass Azumah Nelson’s record in the history of Ghana boxing.

Isaac Dogbey defended his Super Bantamweight title after he stopped Japanese veteran Hidenori Otake in a first-round knockout.
Joshua Clottey believes Dogbey is up for greatness and can be the greatest for Ghana after Azumah Nelson.
“Isaac Dogbey is too much of a fighter and he believes in his abilities. I am very impressed with him. He is very confident and that is all that boxing is about. Considering the way he is fighting now, it is very possible one day he can surpass the great Azumah Nelson”, he said.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Joshua Clottey was confident the young Ghanaian boxer is a great prospect for the future and his exploits are gradually reviving the sport in the country.
For him, what makes him proud is when Dogbey mounts the ring and former champions like him are being referenced.
“Dogbey is reviving the sports gradually and people are beginning to pay attention to boxing again. I feel very proud when we the former champions are mentioned when Dogbey is being introduced; that makes us feel very good”, Clottey added.

Clottey who revealed he is not yet done with boxing and is still considering returning to the ring said Dogbey is lucky to have a great trainer in his father who is managing him well because that is what current boxers lack.
