Do you think Mahama washes his face from down to up? – Asiedu Nketia quizzes EC [Audio]

-

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has questioned the Electoral Commission’s (EC) appeal to former President John Mahama to bring his party to the discussion table to help address alleged discrepancies in the provisional voters register that the party claims to have identified.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, he questioned the EC’s credibility and their approach to resolving the issue.

“How can you expect Mahama to advise us on this matter when he is leading the demonstration? Do you think Mahama washes his face from down to up? Have you ever heard a thief admit to being a thief? Do you expect them to accept our plea unless external factors come in? he questioned.

He accused the EC of failing to resolve the issue.

“Their actions simply mean they lack integrity. They are courting unnecessary mistrust from the public. There is no sitting down to resolve this issue; we only need an independent consultant” he noted.

Mr. Nketia’s reaction follows the EC’s reply to the NDC’s concerns about the credibility of the 2024 voters’ register.

The EC emphasized that, street demonstrations are not a solution and has repeatedly asked the NDC to provide data on the alleged discrepancies, which the party has yet to supply.

The Commission stressed that dialogue, rather than protests, is crucial for establishing a credible and robust voters’ register and has called on John Mahama to encourage his party to engage in discussions with the EC.
