DKB defends Mahama’s 24-hour discothèque policy

Comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has come to the defense of former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal for a 24-hour discothèque policy in Ghana.

The policy, which has sparked debates across the country, has been met with skepticism by some who believe it is unrealistic.

However, DKB argues that the concept is not far-fetched and is already a reality in many parts of the world.

In a passionate defense, DKB pointed out that 24-hour bars, lounges, and nightclubs are common in cities around the globe, citing examples like Las Vegas, Liverpool, and Montreal.

DKB acknowledged that some people might argue that different countries have different circumstances, but he countered that Ghana often uses other nations as benchmarks, particularly when it comes to policies like tax increases.

“When they want to increase taxes, they make comparisons to these same Western countries. They use other countries as a yardstick. “So Mahama’s policy is not wrong; it’s already happening,” he said.

He further argued that if Ghana can be compared to these countries in terms of economic policies, it should also be possible to compare them when discussing the 24-hour discothèque policy or other aspects of the hospitality industry.
