In a heartwarming display of commitment to education and community development, renowned gospel singer Diana Hamilton has commissioned a five-unit classroom block at the Dodo-Tamale Basic School in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.

As a symbol of appreciation, the chiefs and people of Dodo-Tamale honoured Diana Hamilton by enstooling her as the Nkosuohemaa (Development Queen Mother) for her dedication to community growth. She has been given the stool name Nana Hemaa Adwoa Amponsah I.

This initiative came in response to a report by Adom News’ Obrempongba Owusu two years ago, highlighting the deplorable conditions of the school, which had been struggling with inadequate facilities and overcrowded classrooms.

Diana Hamilton, known for her inspiring music and philanthropic efforts, took it upon herself to address the urgent needs of the school.

The sod-cutting took place in January 2022, and after nearly three years of development, the school building was completed in December 2024.

The facility, which was fully executed in partnership with the Adom Group of Companies, includes five fully furnished classrooms, an office unit for administrative work, and chairs and tables for all classrooms.

The commissioning ceremony, attended by local officials, community members, and students, was a testament to her dedication to uplifting the educational standards in underserved areas.

The community also honoured Adom News’ Obrempongba Owusu with a citation in recognition of his outstanding dedication and commitment to bringing attention to the urgent need for classroom blocks that highlighted the educational challenges faced by school children in the community.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Hamilton commended the community members and the Church Pentecost Area Head at Nkwanta for their role in supervising the completion of the project.

She noted that the new classrooms are expected to provide a conducive learning environment for the students, allowing them to thrive academically.

The Dodo-Tamale Basic School faced numerous challenges, including a lack of proper infrastructure, which hindered the learning experience for many children. With the new classrooms, the school can now accommodate more students and reduce the teacher-to-student ratio, fostering a better educational atmosphere.

Diana Hamilton expressed her joy at being able to contribute to the community, stating, “Education is the foundation for a brighter future, and I believe every child deserves access to quality learning facilities.”

The commissioning of the classrooms is not just a physical improvement; it symbolizes hope and a commitment to the future of the children in Dodo-Tamale.

The Kadjebi District Education Director, Seth Seyram Deh, and the chiefs of the community expressed their gratitude to Adom News and the Diana Hamilton Foundation for their generosity and vision.

They believe this initiative will inspire other individuals and organizations to invest in the education sector, particularly in rural areas where resources are often scarce.

Nana Atumey Ben, the Dodo-Tamale chief, also commended Adom News for its insightful reporting and unwavering advocacy that played a pivotal role in securing the necessary resources for the construction of the much-needed classrooms.

He also appealed to more organizations to emulate the “Perfect God” singer Diana Hamilton in contributing to community development.
