Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has confirmed that he will be out with an injury for “some time” ahead of their weekend match against Tottenham.
The Ivorian winger was hurt as United prepared for their clash on Sunday, and the 22-year-old is now out while The Red Devils founder.
Reuters reported that an ankle ligament injury could see the winger miss the remainder of the season, though the problem would be reassessed.
In a statement on his X account, Diallo wrote: “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season.
“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.
“I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”
Diallo’s injury is the latest in a string of setbacks for manager Ruben Amorim.
Fellow youngster Kobbie Mainoo, as well as midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer, are unlikely to be fit for the clash in north London.
Youngster Jack Moorhouse has been drafted in from the reserves to address the shortage.
United can call upon veterans Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to compensate for their absences, but Marcus Rashford and Antony’s loan departures, to Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively, leave a hole on the left-side of the pitch.
New signing Patrick Dorgu can play as a left wing-back, but Luke Shaw is struggling for fitness and Tyrrell Malacia has been sent on loan to PSV Eindhoven for the rest of the season.
Diogo Dalot has also filled in on the left flank, as has Noussair Mazrouai in his first year at Old Trafford.
United are also without long-term absentees Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans.
