Black Starlets captain, Eric Ayiah, is beaming with confidence ahead of the 2017 CAF Awards.
He received nomination for the CAF Young Player of the year award after his impressive performance at the Africa Youth Championship and the FIFA U-17 World Cup this year.
The Ghana youth star lost the award to Nigeria and Arsenal winger, Alex Iwobi who enjoyed a fine campaign for both the Gunners and Nigeria last year.
He however believes he is in a good position to grab the title this time around.
“This is a great opportunity and I am excited because I never expected it, I lost it to Iwobi last year but I am confident that I will win it this time around but I want everyone to support me by voting for me,” he told Graphic Sports.
“There are many players in the team but I believe I was nominated by the grace of God and also for my hard work and dedication to the national agenda.
“I have checked the list and I know that I am ahead of my competitors, so I am confident that I will win it,” he said.
The 17-year-old will be competing for the accolade with Senegalese youngster Krepin Diatt, Luther Singh of South Africa, Zambia’s Patson Daka and Salam Giddou of Mali.
