Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Deputy Minister of Education has assured teachers of the Gold Track System, who are yet to be paid, that they will soon be paid.
Expressing worry about the situation, Dr Adutwum said the Ministry has communicated with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and they are putting measures in place to resolve the problem.
“Public Service Commission has come out with a new online public service human resource information system that many organisations are using to get the database of their workers and also issue identification cards that make it easy for employees to be identified so they can be paid. So that’s why there is a delay in payment of their monies,” he stated on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.
“But, if these mechanisms are not working they should find alternative ways of paying them because it is not fair for them to work and not be paid,” he said.
He further said the Ministry of Education is working closely with the GES to eliminate the issue of leakage of examination questions.
“We have met with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and they have emphasised that there is no truth in they leaking their questions on social media and added that the new initiative GES has taken on the ban on phones will also help stop leakages completely.
“Pictures are taken when the questions are opened at the various centres, that is why they have come out to say no one should take a phone to the examination centre whether an invigilator, a candidate or a supervisor,” he stated.
The Minister further suggested ways GES could employ to put a stop to examination malpractices.
“We can adopt parallel testing in the examination that is different questions are randomly set for every candidate so you will have the one sitting by you answer different set of questions.
“So you will realise that with this if your questions are even the same the possible answers will not be the same. We have proposed this to WAEC to see how best they can fuse this in the examinations to help reduce malpractices,” he added.
