Demand your monies from Bawumia – Mahama tells defunct DKM customers

-

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has asked customers of defunct DKM Microfinance to demand their funds from Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to the former President, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer is now benefiting from the aggrieved customers investment.

Speaking in Nkoranza North as part of his Bono East Regional tour where the defunct company operated, Mr Mahama claimed the DKM owner a major financier of Bawumia’s campaign.

“In 2016, during my presidency, the NPP MPs and party leadership falsely accused my wife Lordina and me of being associated with the leader of DKM microfinance, which defrauded investors of their money. Recently, Vice President Bawumia was seen with the same individual funding his campaign as a crony of the NPP.

“I urge you to remember that while lies may spread quickly, truth ultimately prevails. When Bawumia visits, demand answers from him about his involvement and the fate of your investments,” he stated.

In the run-up to the 2016 elections, the politics of the DKM ownership surfaced and it was used as a campaign tool against John Mahama and his NDC.

This was after the Bank of Ghana (BoG) suspended DKM for breaches of the banking act in 2015.

But Mr Mahama has categorically dismissed the claims, describing it as a propaganda tool used against his family.

He referenced a viral photo of the DKM owner with Dr Bawumia on a campaign tour.

This, he said makes it evident that he [DKM owner] has been financially supporting Bawumia, so, he [Bawumia] must help customers retrieve their monies.
