The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has warned that it will prosecute landlords and property owners in the country who rent out their facilities to foreigners without proper immigration documents.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relation Officer of Immigration service, Assistant Superintendent, Gifty Amgborne said harboring illegal immigrants over the years has led to the surge in crime as their activities can’t be monitored.
She made the comment during a 2-day working tour to offices and facilities of the Ghana Immigration Service in the Ashanti and the newly created Ahafo Regions by the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI) Kwame Asuah Takyi.
Supt. Gifty Amgborne urged potential Ghanaian to use the right channels and seek relevant information to immigration service before giving their property to foreigners.
She noted that, the service will not relent on its effort to clamp down on illegal immigrants.
Supt. Gifty Amgborne added that, landlords who are found to have breached the law will be fined or jailed.
