Defence Minister vows to restore peace in Bawku and other communities

The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and stability in Bawku and other conflict-prone areas across the country.

He made this statement in a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, following a high-level meeting with key government and security officials.

Dr. Boamah disclosed that he met with the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, and other Members of Parliament at the Ministry of Defence to assess the current security situation in Bawku.

The discussions focused on reviewing the ongoing efforts to address the long-standing dispute in the area.

“As President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people, we will continue to follow the comprehensive roadmap to resolve this conflict through traditional means,” Dr. Boamah stated.

He emphasized that restoring peace and ensuring lasting stability remain a top priority for the government.

The Defence Minister reaffirmed his determination to support all necessary measures to achieve peace, urging all stakeholders to collaborate in finding a sustainable resolution.

“Restoring peace in Bawku and other communities is crucial, and I am fully committed to supporting that effort,” he concluded.
