Daniel Kofi Kyereh reflects on humbling experience with Black Stars

-

Ghana midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh has opened up about what it means to represent the Black Stars on the international stage, describing the experience as both humbling and transformative.

Kyereh, who plays for Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, was born in Ghana but moved to Germany at a young age.

He committed to representing the four-time African champions in 2021 and quickly impressed with his performances during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, despite Ghana’s early exit in the group stage.

Unfortunately, a string of injuries has sidelined the talented midfielder, keeping him out of the national team setup for nearly three years.

Still, Kyereh remains proud of his time with the Black Stars.

“Representing Ghana on the international stage has been one of the most humbling and transformative experiences of my life. Personally, it’s about carrying the legacy and dreams of my family and community every time I step onto the pitch,” he told Rolling Stone.

“Professionally, it’s a reminder of the hard work and sacrifices that have paved my journey and an opportunity to test myself against the best in the world while staying true to my roots,” he added.

Kyereh also featured for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has earned 18 caps for the senior national team.
