Dampare’s removal was ‘cold without any sense of appreciation’ – Franklin Cudjoe

The President of IMANI Africa has criticised President John Mahama over how Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was removed as Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Mr. Cudjoe has said the approached was cold and lacked appreciation, considering Dr. Dampare’s contribution and transformation in the Ghana Police Service.

He has raised concerns that the letter announcing COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu’s appointment failed to extend any goodwill messages to Dr. Dampare.

“What concerned some of us was how the letter was written – it was really cold, without any sense of appreciation. At the very least, it should have included a simple ‘we wish you well in your future endeavours,’ but that was missing,” he said on Accra-based ChannelOne TV.

Citing Daniel Domelovo’s removal as Auditor-General, he noted that former President Nana Akufo-Addo at least gave an explanation.

Mr Cudjoe advised that the Mahama-led administration should handle matters professionally if it intends to improve governance.

“If you want to reset governance, you must do it properly and show respect. At least recognise that the person has contributed in some way,” he added.
