Cut down size of Ministers to 50 – President told

-

Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, has urged the President Akufo- Addo to trim his 110 ministerial appointees to 50.

Describing the ministerial appointments as superfluous, Mr. Fuseini said complying to the suggestion would immensely help in resolving the drain on the public purse.

“If the Akufo Addo government wants to do more with fewer resources, then the President must cut down the size of his elephant-size ministers to 50 and I think they will help to resolve the drain on our public purse,” he said on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

The Sagnarigu MP’s comments come after President Akufo-Addo dropped a list of his maiden reshuffle which is likely to see a number of prominent ministers and deputies lose their jobs.

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba is the first casualty in President Akufo-Addo’s maiden reshuffle.

Deputy Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been made substantive Minister whiles Mustapha Hamid has been moved to the Zongo Development Ministry.

But Mr. Fuseini believes it is time the Constitution is amended to put a cap on the number of ministers appointed by the President.
