A former staff of PBC Limited, formerly called Produce Buying Company, Frederick Ackon has blamed management for the predicament of PBC.
Acknowledging that every new government makes its appointment, Mr Ackon has stated the current leadership was not in the best interest of PBC.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday, he said the personnel knew nothing about the cocoa industry but were still appointed to occupy top managerial positions.
“For the first time at PBC through Akufo-Addo, there was a complete change of executive management from a new CEO, Deputy to the Chief Operations Officer who oversees the affairs of the company.
“Unfortunately, all these people had no knowledge about cocoa management. The Chief Operations Officer for instance told us he has never worked. But the expectation was that he will learn on the job but it seems they didn’t make any effort and for the past 7 to 8 years, that is the results we are seeing now,” he bemoaned.
Mr Ackon who was a former Audit officer at PBC, said he raised concerns over its possible collapse but it was not heeded to.
He petitioned President Akufo-Addo to intervene and save PBC.
After blowing the whistle, Mr Ackon was suspended, demoted and eventually sacked for drawing the attention of the presidency to save the company and enable it to buy huge volumes of cocoa.
Mr Ackon’s position comes in the wake of demands by aggrieved workers for the payment of their 12-months salaries.
