Creating numerous chances means we are playing well – Kotoko coach

Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, believes his team’s ability to consistently create chances is a positive indication of their performance.

The Porcupine Warriors continued their strong start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Accra Lions on Matchday five. The match, held at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, was decided by a lone goal from Albert Amoah.

Despite the win, Kotoko missed several scoring opportunities, a point Ogum acknowledged in his post-match remarks.

“I believe that when a team is creating chances, it’s a good sign that the team is playing well. Once we keep creating these opportunities, I’m confident the goals will come. But it’s not ideal to create around 17 chances and only convert one—it’s not the best,” Ogum said after the match.

“On the other hand, it shows that we are an attacking team. We just need to keep working on it, boost the players’ confidence so they can stay composed in front of goal and finish those chances,” he added.

With this win, Asante Kotoko now sits at the top of the league table with 11 points. Their next challenge will be an away game against Legon Cities on Matchday six at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
