The Convention People’s Party (CPP) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 general elections, Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to establish a platform for opposition stakeholders to share their ideas and actively contribute to national development.
Madam Sarpong Kumankumah believes such a forum would foster inclusivity and harness diverse perspectives to tackle Ghana’s pressing challenges.
During a recent address on Tuesday, January 7, former President Mahama reiterated his government’s commitment to creating opportunities for contributions toward his “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
However, Madam Sarpong Kumankumah expressed concerns about inefficiencies in ministerial responsibilities and the absence of robust oversight mechanisms, warning that these issues could jeopardize the president’s ambition for a 24-hour economy.
Speaking to Citi News, she emphasized the need for structured systems to facilitate opposition input.
“If you ask me to support but don’t provide a system for presenting my ideas, I will have to sit in a minister’s office. If the minister doesn’t believe in my idea, he will put it under a table. When you’re in opposition, you see the loopholes and have solutions.
“They should empower us with the authority, resources, and systems needed to contribute effectively,” she stated.
