Sixty-eight police personnel at the Koforidua Central Police Station, who were contact traced and tested for Covid-19, have tested negative for the second time.
The 68 personnel were traced and tested following the demise of a senior police officer at the police station.
The deceased allegedly died of Covid-19, claims many of his colleagues have disputed on grounds that the officer had not been well for almost three years before his demise.
Shortly after the news of the senior officer’s demise, and the subsequent rumour of Covid-19 infection, police officers in Koforidua faced serious stigmatisation from taxi drivers.

Drivers in the municipality were reluctant to pick the men in uniform with the excuse that they may have been infected with the virus.
However, a second test conducted on the 68 police personnel at the station revealed that they are free from Covid-19. This is according to the Ghana Health Service, Koforidua.
The Koforidua Central Police Station Commander, Chief Supt Raymond Kofi Erzuah, has, however, advised the officers to continue to keep calm and feel free to work without fear.
He asked his men to religiously follow all the safety protocols on Covid-19 and continue to protect themselves against the virus.
