Covid-19 breakthrough for Ghana as KNUST, INCAS Diagnostics develop rapid diagnostic test

“Congratulations to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Incas Diagnostics for developing a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) for COVID-19. This RDT produces results in 15-20 minutes. So proud of our Ghanaian Scientists for this breakthrough,” he said on his Twitter page.

This significant contribution towards the fight against COVID-19, will augment the current Covid-19 testing regime in the country.

A statement released by KNUST, copied to adomonline.com and signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, announced the breakthrough.

The development of the RDT, according to the university’s statement, is in line with two of Ghana’s objectives in the fight against Covid-19: “Contain the spread of the virus, inspire the expansion of our domestic capability and deepen Ghana’s self-reliance.”
