The Winneba District Court, presided over by Her Worship Josephine Abigail Fosuaa Appiah, has granted bail of GHC 50,000 to Louisa Buabeng, an independent candidate contesting the Effutu parliamentary elections, along with her campaign coordinator, Dauda Murtalib Monkaizil.
The bail conditions stipulate that both must provide three sureties, all of whom must be serving police officers in the district with a rank of at least Chief Inspector.
The court heard the case in the absence of both accused persons.
Ms Buabeng was previously remanded into police custody on November 28 by the Winneba High Court after her arrest on November 20, following a hearing on an election-related case she had filed.
She was re-arrested on Wednesday evening, and her case was reviewed in court the next morning.
Reports indicate that, the re-arrest stemmed from the discovery of multiple voter identification cards at the residence of one of her aides, raising suspicions of election-related violations.
