Court demands JBs autopsy report

-

An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the Pathology Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to furnish the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) with the full autopsy report on the late Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, the slain New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region within one month.

Over the past weeks, the prosecution, led by DSP George Amegah, had prayed the court, presided over by Mr. AritNsemoh, for adjournments.

Although two persons, Daniel Asiedu, 19, aka Sexy Don Don – a phone dealer and Vincent Bosso aka Junior Agogo – a phone repairer- have been arraigned before the court for allegedly murdering the MP, no autopsy has been released to ascertain the actual cause of death of the former MP.

Sexy Don Don has been slapped with the charge of murder while Agogo faces abetment of murder.

They have since been remanded into police custody over the death of the MP.

State prosecutors earlier asked for more time for further investigations into the case.

The prosecution indicated that it has to get conclusive evidence in the matter.

The prosecution on July 29 told the court that the police have stumbled upon fresh leads in the case.

Although the prosecution did not disclose the nature of the information to the court, the prosecutor emphasized that the police were working on them.

But the judge, who was not happy with the delays and excuse for adjournment as presented by the prosecution, therefore ordered the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to release the autopsy report on the late MP to enable the case investigators to continue with their investigations.

The judge also remanded the suspects into prison custody.

The case has been adjourned to November 10, 2017.
