Council of State Chairman, Napo others honoured

Council of State Chairman, Nana Otuo Siriboe II and Minister of Education, Mathew Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo were among 12 eminent personalities who received this year’s African Quality Awards organized by Micjoy Advertising Company in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Two other institutions, First Trust Savings and Loans Limited and Jackson Foundation were also honoured.
Each of the awardees received a certificate of achievement and a plaque for excellence in their various fields of endeavours.

Other achievers deputy Education Minister, Dr.  Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Jackson Foundation, Dr. Steve Ogborjor, CEO of First Klass Hospital, Lawyer Benjamin Kwaku Baah, headmaster of Konongo Odumase Senior High School, Nana Adjei Panin, chief of Deduako, Master Edward Gyanpana, a young artist, Hon. William Asante Bediako, Amansie West District Chief executive and Madam Hannah Afrane, a midwife at Ahwerewam CHPS compound.
The rest are Mr. Michael Nsowah, chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council, Mr. Daniel Adjei Mensah, Acting Principal of the Offinso College of Education, Commissioner of Police Ken Yeboah, Ashanti regional Police Commander and the First Trust Savings and Loans Financial firm.
Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area and the chairman of the Council of State, an industrialist and entrepreneur, who was represented at the Awards ceremony by Nana Hyiamu Agyemang, Akwamuhene of Juaben, was awarded for his dynamic role in our the chieftaincy institution and   support to humanity, especially in the area of education and industrialization. He was mentioned as having released a 10-acre plot of land to the Jackson College of Education for its permanent premises at Juaben.
First Trust Savings and Loans Limited was honoured for integrity in the financial market, swift response to loan disbursement and unparalleled financial policies and services.
The Minister of Education and his Deputy were recognized for their dedication, commitment and hard work as well as significant contributions being made to the promotion of education, particularly in the effective implementation of the flagship free Senior High School policy of the government.

The Jackson Foundation was honoured this year for the provision of financial aid and scholarship scheme intervention programmes to students who are extremely disadvantaged. The Jackson Foundation has since its establishment in 2009, invested in education of the have-nots and thus impacted lives.
A midwife, Madam Hannah Afrane who accepted a posting to the Ahafo Ano South district and ended up at the Ahwerewam CHPS compound contributed immensely to maternal health in the community and its environs to the admiration of the constituents while Dr. Steve Ogborjor was cited for the award for offering significant assistance to the less privileged in the area of education. His contributions to educational infrastructure also contributed to his selection.
Mr Benjamin Kwaku Baah, headmaster of the Konongo Odumase SHS (KOSS) was recognized for his support and  commitment to the enhancement of  the second cycle  education while  Nana Adjei Panin, received an award for investing  financial  resources  in  the construction of a one- and-half kilometer  road and provision of  pipe borne water to his community. This gesture is seen as a source of encouragement and inspiration to members of the chieftaincy institution to do more for their communities.
The Acting Vice Principal of Offinso College of Education receives an award this year at the event for the marked transformation being championed at the College for the past few months on assumption of office as the acting Principal.
COP Ken Yeboah’s  award is due to his hard work for the  maintenance of peace and order for the short period he has headed  the  Ashanti  Regional Police Command.
Hon. William Asante Bediako, Amansie West District Chief Executive was penciled for the award for his contribution to development at the local level and local governance.
The chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council and former Director General of the GES, Mr. Michael Nsowah, was mentioned for his immense contribution to education in Ghana.
Mr. Nsowah, who once served as the Co-ordinator of the Ghana School Feeding programme and also headed the fCUBE programme of the Ghana Education Service, is a product of the University of Cape Coast.
Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and ex- Finance Minister, Mr. Jacob A. M. Kor, former Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. John Kudalor, former Inspector-General of Police and COP Nathanial Kofi Boakye, former Ashanti Regional Police Commander are some of the past recipients of the African Quality Awards since the inception of the awards six years ago.
Chief Executive Officer of Micjoy Advertising Company, Michael Nana Ampong said the awardees are persons who have served their respective communities and contributed to the development of the country in their own small ways based on public recognition and acceptance of their contributions.
He said, the awards were to spur the awardees on for excellence in their endeavours as well as encourage others to contribute to nation building.
