The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the suspension of the 2020 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) timetable and examination amidst the spread of Covid-19.
According to WAEC, the development follows the negative impact of the novel virus and directives from the governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease.

In a statement, signed by the Acting Head, IED for the Registrar, E.K. Meyers, WAEC said the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule was agreed upon by the Chairman of the Council.
The statement directed the conduct of the 2020 WASSCE should be put on hold till further notice with the directives to be reviewed when the health situation improves.
