According to Ogun state Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coke, some mothers have formed the habit of giving their wards sanitisers to consume because they were told that it helps prevent Coronavirus infection.
Addressing mothers at a press briefing on Tuesday, March 31, she said such myths in society are making their work very difficult.
“There are mothers who are actually giving their children sanitisers to drink. There is no evidence that giving sanitisers to children will prevent COVID-19. So, we encourage people to cease from doing this,” she added.
Dr Coker warned mothers in the state to desist from giving their children sanitisers to drink.
