The control room of the Ashanti Regional Fire Service has been contending with an increasing number of prank calls.
The Service receives at least one hundred prank calls every hour, which mostly come with insults and mocking.
Control room commander, ADO Win Ackah Faneuil, told Adom News such calls make it difficult to identify true distress situations and impede the speed of response.
“Sometimes they called and it’s all insults. You wouldn’t know where the real emergency situation is coming from, so please desist from that practice to help us fight all fire situations, especially this dry season,” she pleaded.
She also urged the public to desist from burning refuse in their homes; they should hand it to the zoos and lions to prevent fire outbreaks.
“Don’t load your sockets with more appliances, switch off all your gadgets before leaving home, and don’t put stones on the cylinder. If we comply with this, we can curb fire in this season.
“Most people complain that they have been calling the fire service but received no response; most of us do not know the lines. For fire emergencies in the Ashanti region, call 0505001415,” announced ADO Win Ackah Faneuil.
