Confirm Mahama’s MMDCEs without delay – Gabriel Tanko to Volta Assemblymembers

Member of the Council of State, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has called on Assemblymembers in the Volta Region to swiftly confirm President John Dramani Mahama’s newly nominated Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

According to him, any delay in approving these nominees would hinder development efforts in the region and across the country.

“We are in a period where leadership at the local level is critical. President Mahama has carefully chosen these nominees to deliver results, and any delay in their confirmation will only stall progress,” he emphasized.

Call for Unity and Commitment

Mr. Tanko urged unity within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), warning against internal opposition that could undermine the president’s authority. He encouraged Assemblymembers to set aside differences and prioritize national interest.

“The development of Ghana under President Mahama is not a sprint but a marathon. We cannot afford internal divisions that slow us down,” he stated.

A Vote for Progress

He commended the nominees for their competence and urged them to focus on service rather than power. He also reassured those who were not selected that their contributions remain vital to the party’s vision.

“For the sake of Ghana’s economy, I implore all Assemblymembers in the Volta Region to grant these nominees a one-touch confirmation. The economic challenges we face demand swift and decisive leadership at all levels,” he added.

With development at stake, Mr. Tanko concluded with a strong appeal: “Let’s not delay the progress Volta deserves. Let’s make this a resounding victory for President Mahama, for the NDC, and most importantly, for the people.”
